FISSURE Playground #1 Overview
With FISSURE announcing a hefty prize-pool for their first CS2 tournament, the playground stakes have never been higher as Fissure looks to cement itself as a staple tournament organizer in the CS2 community.
With most of the group-stage phase already concluded the only matches played today are Mibr (Brazil) vs. Astralis (Denmark) with
BetBoom (Russia) vs. BIG Clan. (Germany) The only team competing in this tournament that is ranked above the Top-10 in VRS Rankings coming into the event was Furia.
I do believe there will be some changes soon as the projected first place finishers of each group have shown rapid improvement based on their participation in smaller qualifying tournaments

Via HLTV event page. Current standings as I am watching the last game of BIG vs BetBoom as based off of the round differential Complexity should be through.

Travel Recap
Blast.tv Austin Major 2025
With the last event I had the opportunity to attend being Intel Extreme Masters in Chicago as a security staff member, the general manager for the Alley Rats Esports Club surprised me with tickets to the Austin Blast Major where the energy at the Moody Center at UT Austin was nothing but pure electricity. With players and teams representing their regions, this tournament that was riddled with upsets in the early stages gave us multiple matches that went the distance and even a few overtimes! Yet after a long hiatus of having an S-tier event located in North America the crowd rallied together to support the Mongolian under-dogs of The Mongolz where during the live-finals where Mongolian news outlets report that approximately 3% of Mongolia’s population watched the match live at 3:30am.

The Mongolz walkout during the Blast Austin Major
Austin was a great city to host this tournament as the vibrant college campus of The University of Texas at Austin made it a great hub to host the tournament in the Moody Center, next to the emblematic Longhorns’ stadium on top of Austin emerging as a tech-hub for numerous companies setting their headquarters down near downtown.

Austin, Texas
Austin, Texas has a emerged as a tech hub where Waymo (fully automated self-driving ride-hailing service) was very prevalent as it was acquired by Uber from Googles’ self-driving car technology. Regardless of how impressive this technology is, there were ample options for mobilization around the growing city. Granted my experiences range from walking to and from 6th street as Counter-Strike players hit Austin for the night.
I am super grateful for the members of The Flock (members of Fl0ms’ CS2 team) for hosting us so graciously as the locals from the area made sure that we experienced the best Austin had to offer.
